The exchange rate for a dollar to naira at Lagos Parallel Market (Black Market) players buy a dollar for N745 and sell at N750 on Wednesday 18th January 2023, according to sources at Bureau De Change (BDC).

Nigerians Likely To Experience More Black Outs As Power Generation Falls To 2,200MW
Nigerians are likely to experience more black out as power generation dropped on Tuesday at 14:00 hours from 3,553MW to 2,200MW.
Naija News gathered that in a document from the Independent System Operator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) titled: “List of GenCos and their MW Load at 14:00hours on 17/01/2023” 10 out of 24 power plants generated the 2,200MW.
The drop as learnt by this platform means the energy production of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) was reduced by 1,253MW, which translates to 35.26% decrease.
It was gathered that the 10 electricity Generation Companies (GenCos), which produced the 2,200MW were Alaoji NIPP (Gas) 102.40MW, Azura-Edo (Gas) 422MW, Jebba (Hydro) 369MW, Kainji (Hydro) 390MW, Odukpanu NIPP (Gas) 307MW, Okpai Gas (Steam) 101MW, Omotosho (Gas)164.60MW, Omotosho NIPP (Gas) 101MW, Paras Energy (Gas) 65.80MW and Sapele (Steam) 85.80MW.
Revelation from a similar document titled: “Distribution Load Profile : Data as at 17/01/2023 at 14:46:00,” shows that the SO allocated 2,888MW to the 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos),
Allocation shared to the various Discos shows that Abuja DisCo got 389MW, Benin DisCo got 237MW, Eko DisCo got 371MW, Enugu DisCo got 277MW, Ibadan DisCo got 349MW, Ikeja DisCo got 409MW, Jos got166MW, Kaduna DisCo got 193MW, Kano got 205MW, Port Harcourt got 209MW while Yola got 83MW.
