BREAKING: Gunmen Attack Market, Burn Police Vehicle in Enugu

Unknown gunmen allegedly attacked a market in Enugu State on Saturday morning in order to enforce a purported five-day sit-in order.
According to Track News, the chaotic event resulted in the burning of a police patrol vehicle in the area.
A police source confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, noting that no one was killed in the attack.
It was reported that a gang of over ten hoodlums stormed the New Market area as early as 6:00 a.m., most likely to shut down the market, but were met by police officers on guard, causing them to flee in terror.
They were said to have engaged the police officers stationed at the market in a gunfight, eventually setting fire to their patrol vehicle.
Traders who arrived early in the morning told reporters that the shooting forced many of those already present at the market to flee for their safety, leaving their goods behind.
“I saw a group of boys around 6 a.m. this morning shouting at market traders to go home.” They yelled, “Don’t you know there’s sit-at-home?” Why are you breaking it?
“I saw a police patrol vehicle approaching, and they immediately engaged them in a shootout.” I abandoned my goods and fled to safety. “When I came out after the shooting stopped, I saw they had set fire to the police patrol vehicle in front of the Colliery hospital,” said one of the eyewitnesses, Mike Ezeh.
According to Track News, the police command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the attack on its operational vehicle or the incident in general.
Residents of Enugu State avoided the five-day sit-in declared in the South East region by Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The early morning attack in Enugu metropolis could have been a deliberate attempt to scare people into obeying the sit-at-home order.
