Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
A gas tanker exploded along Otto Wharf Road in Apapa, Lagos, according to Track news
The incident happened around 3:53 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to Track news emergency response agencies have been notified.
The road from Otto wharf into Oshodi is closed to vehicular traffic, and personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are on the scene putting out the fire.
On Monday, a fire ripped through the Oko-Baba plank market in Lagos State’s Ebute-Meta area, destroying shanties and shops and sending traders and residents into a frenzy.
Almost no month goes by without a report of a fire, especially one in a public place.
Gas and special services caused 151 fire incidents in Nigeria, according to data released earlier this year by the Federal Fire Service (FFS). Experts predict that this will have a significant financial impact on the economy by worsening the country’s poverty indices.
