BREAKING: Niger Governor to Appoint 100 Women This Week

Niger state governor, Umaru Bago, has revealled that his administration would be appointing no fewer than 100 women into various positions this week.
Governor Bago made the announcement when he received the Executives of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), led by its chairperson, Bola Jibogun, at the state government house in Minna.
Governor Bago noted that the expected appointments would fulfil his promise to carry women along in implementing his policies and programmes.
He reiterated that out of the 100 appointments, FIDA will have a coordinator and two senior special assistants and assured the group that he would work closely with them to address gender-based issues.
The governor further stated that his administration has lots of programmes and policies that would benefit women and children.
“FIDA is part of this government so let us join hands and work together to bring about the desired growth and development of the state,” he said.
“There are a lot of women initiatives, we are creating a lot of desks to address affirmative actions and also gender-related issues in this government, and we hope the collaboration will meet the yearnings and aspirations of women “, he said.
In response, FIDA secretary, Safura Abdulkareem, noted that as a non-partisan organisation, they protect the rights of women and children as well as stand against any form of gender-based violence.
