Breaking: Rivers Assembly Move to New Complex In Government House
The Rivers State House of Assembly has relocated its sittings to a new complex within the Government House, Port Harcourt.
TrackNews Media Reports that the move comes after the demolition of the Assembly building on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
The demolition work was conducted on the directive of the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The lawmakers, led by Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, were seen entering the Government House on Wednesday while the demolition work was ongoing.
This follows a State High Court order issued in Port Harcourt, which allows Edison to remain the Speaker of the Assembly until the matter before the court is resolved.
In its first sitting at the new location, the House elected Hon. Adolphus T. Orubienimigha as the new majority leader.
As of the time of this report, the House, led by the legally recognised speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr Ehie Edison, and other members are already sitting and debating bills.
