Buhari authorized the disbursement of $350 million from the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund

Eng Muazu Jaji Sambo, Minister of Transportation, has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the disbursement of the $350 million Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF).
Sambo made the announcement at the flag-off ceremony for the third phase of the Nigerian Seafarers Development Program (NSDP) at the Naval Dockyard in Lagos on Saturday.
The Minister stated that plans to approach the Minister of Finance and Budget Planning as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria are in the works.
According to Sambo, the fund will be distributed to five primary lending institutions.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved my request for the disbursement of the CVFF Fund,” Sambo said. Finally, we’ve broken the 17-year jinx.
“The CVFF Fund, which has surpassed $350 million, is housed in the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), and it will be transferred to approved primary lending institutions.”
