Buhari reacts to the killing of traditional ruler in Imo, orders investigation
President Muhammadu Buhari is saddened by the death of Eze Ignitus Asor, the traditional ruler of the Obudi-Agwa community in Imo State’s Oguta Local Government Area, by suspected armed gangs, according to a terse statement from the presidency.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, quoted Buhari on Tuesday as strongly condemning the act and ordering security agencies to investigate the root cause.
“The President has directed security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate the heinous act and ensure that those responsible face the full wrath of the law,” Shehu said in a media statement.
Buhari was also quoted by the presidency as condoling with family, friends, the Obudi-Agwa community, and all those affected by the attacks.
He prayed for the quick recovery of those injured while applauding the Imo State Government’s valiant efforts to improve security.
Buhari also urged all Imo residents and citizens to vigorously support the collective efforts of state actors and local community members to keep everyone safe.
