Buhari salutes ex-DG, National Sports Commission, Al-Hassan Yakmut at 62

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated former Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Al-Hassan Yakmut, on his 62nd birthday on May 5, 2023.
In a congratulatory message issued by his media aide, Mr Femi Adesina, on Thursday in Abuja, Buhari rejoiced with the sports administrator who had “contributed immensely to the development of sports in Nigeria”.
Buhari extolled Yakmut for his passion, resilience in the growth of sports and the well-being of athletes.
He noted that Yakmut, who started out as a professional volleyball player, had worked over many years with four ministers of sports.
The president, therefore, acknowledged Yakmut’s extensive knowledge in sports administration, which gracefully translated into gains when he served as the Director General of the NSC.
He also affirmed the historic roles of the administrator in national development, serving variously as Director/Secretary to NSCDC, Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS), and Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) Board in the Ministry of Interior.
Yakmut was also Director Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and Director of Employee Relations and Welfare in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation
