CAF Confederation Cup: Egbe tips Enyimba for trophy

TRACKING_____Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Sports Construction Limited, Mr. Ebi Egbe has tipped Enyimba to lift the CAF Confederation Cup this term after drawing Guinean side Horoya in the quarterfinals of the competition. Enyimba to get to the knockout stage did put up a five star performance in their last group game away last Sunday in Abdijan where they trashed San Pedro 5-2 to finish runners up behind Hossania Agadir.
Speaking moments after Wednesday’s draw in Cairo, Egbe whose outfit constructed the top notch Enyimba Stadium geotech pitch noted that the People’s Elephants have picked up and would be too hot for opponents to handle in their subsequent games.
“Against Agadir in Aba , Enyimba had a good game and it was obvious hard luck was their undoing. Going away to win 5-2 didn’t come to me as a surprise. The team has really picked up. Given their form now, I see them going all the way to reach the final and lifting the trophy. My only worry is the level of motivation coming the way of the team and the Support at home. I m appealing to everybody in Aba to see the team as their own. That was the spirit that saw Enyimba win the CAF Champions League back to back in 2003 and 2004. Anyansi and his men can do it again if everybody rallies round the team. There shouldn’t be any distractions. The government should also support the team fully. Once that is done, the Cup will land in Aba,” Egbe said.
Enyimba would on March 1 host Horoya in Aba before hitting Conakry for the return leg on March 8.
In the other pairings, Hossania would face Libyan side Al Nasr, while Pyramids of Egypt slugs it out with Zanaco of Zambia. Al Masry of Egypt and RS Berkane of Morocco are paired in the last quarter final game.
