Cemetery worker, accomplices arrested with 5 human skulls in Lagos
A cemetery worker and his accomplices have been arrested with five human skulls in the Agege area of Lagos.
Local security operatives nabbed the suspects on Sunday near the Murikaz section of the cemetery, following a tip-off about suspicious activities. They were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
An eyewitness, Mr. Isiaka Amosu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the suspects had been collaborating with the cemetery attendant, identified as Ismaila, to harvest human body parts for illegal purposes.
“The suspects were apprehended by local security personnel, who noticed a suspicious bag placed on a fence at the back of the cemetery,” Amosu said.
According to the eyewitness, the security team kept watch until two men came to retrieve the bag.
“When they confronted the men, the suspects initially claimed the bag only contained leaves. However, after further pressure, they opened it and revealed another bag inside containing five human skulls,” Amosu explained.
The suspects reportedly confessed to receiving help from the cemetery worker, who allegedly collaborated with them for financial benefits.
Amosu also disclosed that the same cemetery worker had been previously caught with a human head about six months ago, which led to his temporary absence from the area.
The suspects are now in the custody of the Isokoko Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.
