Clark to Omo-Agege: You will be Governor in 2023 guber election.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
South-South leader and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, yesterday threw his support behind Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta Central), declaring that “my son, you will be governor next year.”
Clark spoke after a three-hour ceremony at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, which was attended by top Delta State officials.
Clark reiterated his confidence in Senator Omo-ability Agege’s ability to turn the state’s and its people’s fortunes around, citing the massive pace of infrastructure and human capital development in his Delta Central senatorial district.
He advised him to disseminate such historically significant treats across the state.
Clark, a former PDP member who insisted on voting for Omo-Agege over the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said: “My son, you will be the governor” (in 2023). Your father, who is no longer with us, will be proud and pleased to see that I, his brother, am working to make his son Governor of the United States. God is in charge, and I’d like to pray for you.
“I’m voting for you not because you’re an APC member, but because you’re the type of governor I’ve been looking for.” A governor who will develop not only Delta as a whole, but also Warri, which was originally intended to be Delta’s capital before it was changed. A governor who will not be forced to serve. A governor who will prioritize the interests of the state over godfathers.”
In his remarks, Omo-Agege stated that he, his running mate, Friday Osanebi, and members of their gubernatorial campaign team were beginning their first round of formal consultations with a visit to Chief Clark, followed by visits to various traditional rulers on Saturday.
Omo-Agege stated that his developmental impact had a positive impact on every town and community in Delta Central, and that he was looking for a way to raise Delta State to a level where its development could be easily comparable to that of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, and other leading states.
He bemoaned the deterioration of Warri City and the state’s infrastructure over the years, adding that there are numerous opportunities to boost tourism, road transport, education, employment, and the oil-producing state’s internally generated revenue profile.
“It is said that ‘you shall know them by their fruits,’ but my accomplishments in Delta Central and beyond speak for themselves,” said Ima Niboro, Omo-Agege, Director, Communications and Media Strategy, Delta State Gubernatorial Campaign Council. We have installed solar street lights, transformers, e-libraries, and numerous other projects, and we have secured N600 million for the construction of student hostels in the state’s Ukwuani LGA.”
