Confirmed: Funke Akindele Nominated As PDP Running Mate

A veteran thespian of the Nollywood industry, Funke Akindele, widely called Jenifa, has been confirmed to be one of the nominees as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State comes 2023 elections.

The confirmation was made known on Friday by Gbenga Ogunleye, the media aide to Olajide Adediran (Jandor), the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State.

Recall that TrackNews Nigeria earlier reported that a campaign poster which surfaced online suggests that Funke Akindele might be a possible governorship running mate to the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate.

Confirming the possibility, Ogunleye maintained to our correspondent that the actress is one of the names shortlisted for the position but no final running mate to the PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 elections has been selected yet.

“Funke Akindele hasn’t been confirmed as Jandor’s running mate. Funke is one of the five nominees to be Jandor’s running mate,” he stressed.

He gave that Akindele was nominated alongside four others whom he listed as Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and [Rasheed] Teslim-Balogun.

“She was nominated alongside four other people, whose names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and [Rasheed] Teslim-Balogun. Jandor has not named anyone as his running mate yet,” he added.
