Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, as a big brother.
Adeleke spoke in a personally signed message he addressed to Oyetola on the occasion of his 69th birthday.
In the statement, Adeleke described the advancing age of Oyetola, who is the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, as a divine grace and prayed to God to grant the minister more blessed years on earth.
“It is my pleasure to congratulate my dear big brother on the occasion of his birthday. I thank God for granting my predecessor another blessed year.
“On behalf of the people and government of Osun state, I convey our heartfelt good wishes.
“Wherever my brother is, he should please enjoy his day,” Adeleke said in the statement.
In another development, Adeleke, has directed citizens of the state to pray for Nigeria as the country marks its 63rd independence anniversary.
The governor also cancelled Independence Day celebrations earlier slated for Sunday October 1.
On Sunday, October 1, Nigeria will be celebrating her 63rd independence anniversary having gained independence from Great Britain on Saturday, October 1, 1960.
Adeleke, who spoke in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, urged Osun residents to pray for the continuous peace and prosperity of Nigeria.
“Let us use the Independence Day to meditate and pray on the state of our nation. Our people are passing through tough times.
“It is time to take stock and seek divine intervention and guidance in the affairs of our nation.
“I greet Osun people and Nigerians in general as the Independence day knocks at our doors. Here in Osun, we will celebrate with meditation and prayers,” he said.
