Court orders Becky Buodeigha alias Becky Minaj, CEO of BM Secrets to pay Baraza N7m

A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in the State capital, Yenagoa has ordered one Miss Becky Buodeigha, popularly known as Becky Minaj, owner of BM Secrets to pay Baraza Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited the sum of N7,000,000 and damages and return set of Luxury Furniture unlawfully removed from Baraza headquarters.

Recall that the Cooperative’s lawyer had written a demand notice to Miss Becky to pay up the loan of N5,000,000.00 she took from the co-operative society and the accrued interests or return the 50KVA Generator purchased for the sum of N5,000,000.00 and other assets belonging to the Co-operative that were considered to have been illegally removed from the headquarters of the co-operatrive society.

In the court judgment seen by our reporter, the co-operative which instituted the case, prayed the court to compel her to pay 20% interests per annum on N7,000,000 being amount owed the from January, 2022 till the day judgment is given.

In his judgement, the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice E. G. Omukoro, while ordering her to pay the co-operative the sum of N7,000,000 also ordered her to pay 20% interest per annum on N7,000,000 with effect from December, 2022 instead of January, 2022.

She was further ordered to return the co-operative’s luxury furniture which she allegedly removed from the Co-operative Society unlawfully and took to her Father’s House and pay the sum of N1,000,000 as general damages.

The sum of N200,000 was equally awarded to the co-operative against her as cost.

Reacting to the court judgement, Architect Miebi Bribena, Chief Executive Officer of Baraza stated that “the verdict is a great victory for the Cooperative especially because many people took advantage of the crisis in the Cooperative to either vandalize or loot assets.

He also stated that “all necessary steps shall be taken to bring such persons to book and assets shall be liquidated to settle outstanding capital balance payments as agreed in the Cooperative’s Online General Meeting held on 6th April, 2024.”

This victory has once again vindicated the CEO of the Co-operative Society and the Co-operative Society who was alleged by Becky Minaj to have gifted her the items as a result of an alleged affair while the CEO in turn responded that the Generator was a loan she collected from the Co-Operative Society and the furniture was unlawfully removed from the Headquaters of the Co-Operative Society during an unrest, thereby setting the stage for the legal battle which ended in favour of BARAZA MPCSL.
