The federal government of Nigeria on Wednesday ordered civil servants on Grade Levels 12 and below to continue working from home.
The order was contained in a statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Folashade Yemi-Esan.
The circular, titled: ‘Stay-at-home directve continues’, dated March 3 reads: “Further to the circular No: HCSF/3065/Vol.1/68 dated 26th January 2021, and following the advice of the presidential task force on COVID-19, all officers on SGL 12 and below are to continue working from home till the end of March 2021.”
“While it is acknowledged that there has been a reduction in the number of reported cases of COVID-19, it is important that the downward trend be maintained. It is to this end that the work-from-home directive has to continue as specified above.”
It is also important to emphasize the need to ensure strict compliance with the existing guidelines on the prevention and spread of COVID-19.”
“Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers are enjoined to bring the content of this circular to the attention of all concerned and ensure strict compliance.”
Meanwhile, the National Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has disclosed that more than 2.3 million Nigerians have already registered for COVID-19 vaccination in 24 hours.
The NPHCDA boss, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu made the disclosure on Wednesday during a virtual interview.
It will be recalled that the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday, 2nd March, and the federal government launched a portal for Nigerians to register to be vaccinated.
Shuaibu on Wednesday noted that feedback from the portal shows that Nigerians are excited about the portal and the number of people accessing the portal to register for vaccination keeps growing.
He added that once the completion of checks by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is completed, the roll-out of the vaccines will commence.
