DEC Enugu applauds Ugwuanyi’s successful collaboration on women’s empowerment

By Adeleye Kunle
Development Education Centre (DEC), a frontline Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Enugu tasked with empowering women towards self-reliance for socioeconomic emancipation, has praised Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his administration’s effective collaboration with the organization.
DEC Enugu thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for identifying with its main goal of advocating for women’s right to education and socioeconomic empowerment even before he became governor in 2015.
The Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia Asogwa, said they are deeply grateful to the governor for the support he has given them since the establishment of the body in 1988 when she led a delegation of the central body of the women groups working with DEC Enugu and the partner-communities from Enugu, Imo, Abia, Kogi, and Benue states to the Government House, Enugu, on a thank you visit to Gov. Ugwuanyi.
Dr. Asogwa, who was accompanied by the Patron of DEC, Nnemuruoha Lady Beatrice Asogwa, stated that “we now have a quality concrete asphalt road to DEC headquarters at the Independence Layout, Enugu” as a result of effective collaboration with Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration.
“We are here to thank you and to act in solidarity with your government in Enugu State,” she told the governor.
The DEC Executive Director praised Gov. Ugwuanyi for making Enugu one of the most peaceful and secure states in Nigeria, saying that “this has attracted both indigenous and non-indigenous people to make Enugu their base and home.”
Dr. Asogwa also praised the governor for his administration’s remarkable achievements in infrastructure development, healthcare service delivery, and educational facility provision, among other areas, saying, “You deserve our commendation.”
In line with his inaugural address in 2015, Lady Asogwa, Patron of DEC, praised Gov. Ugwuanyi for transforming the university town of Nsukka with a massive road network with long-lasting facilities such as street lights and traffic lights.
She stated that the completion of the Opi-Nsukka dual carriageway, which had previously been ravaged by flooding, is a worthy testament to the governor’s good works in the state.
In separate goodwill messages, women from Imo, Abia, Kogi, and Benue states thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for the enormous support he has given to the Executive Director of DEC, Dr. Asogwa, in realizing the NGO’s objectives in empowering women, saying they are impressed with the governor’s good works in Enugu State.
They wished the governor the best of luck in his future endeavors and prayed to God to grant their requests.
