DELTA COASTAL COMMUNITIES APPEAL TO GOVERNOR OKOWA TO CREATE CADA…
.…Urge DTHA to Consider People’s Bill to Establish Agency
TRACKING >Delta State Coastal Communities have renewed their call to the State Government to create the much needed Coastal Areas Development Agency, CADA, to fast track the development of the area.
Speaking on behalf of the group, a Delta born environment and human rights activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade urged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State House of Assembly to establish CADA towards giving indigenes of the area a sense of belonging in terms of development.
Comrade Mulade who spoke with newsmen at Obotobo 1 Community in Burutu Local Government Area noted that CADA would address issues of housing, infrastructural development, portable drinking water, good roads, sanitation and commercial fishing, on a better platform.
He commended Governor Okowa for his infrastructural development efforts in the riverine communities of Burutu and Warri South West Local Government Areas in his first term. He said the people need an agency that will focus on the development of coastal communities beyond Governor Okowa because of the particular nature of the area.
He reiterated that no amount of government political appointments can completely eradicate the development deficits of the Riversides, which are the marine economic base of the State across the Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo and Isoko ethnic groups that are anxiously waiting for Governor Okowa and the State House of Assembly to act on their demands.
