Delta Kingship Crisis: Local Government Chairman blows hot, dissolve Committee
**Gives High Chiefs mandate to set up a new 13 man committee
TRACKING____The Ethiope West Local Government Area chairman, Hon Solomon Golley, yesterday, dissolved the ten men committee set up by the Regent of the Kingdom, Chief Emeje Agoda to select a new king for the kingdom.
Golley, who hosted a crucial meeting of the Council-in-chiefs from Onyobru, Boboroku and Jesse central at the council Secretariat in Oghara, capital of Ethiope West Local Government Area in Delta State, yesterday, with a task to find a lasting peace to the kingship crisis in the community also mandated the three most senior chiefs (Unugbrodo) from the three subclan to form a new 13 man Committee to screen contestants for the position of the Idjerhe monarch, giving the would-be Committee to come up with an Ovie elect in the next 9 days.
“I think the kingship issue has taken too much time, that is why we have decided that the 3 Unugbrodo ((most senior chief from the 3 subclan that makes up the kingdom should meet and within 24 hours nominate names for a new 13 man committee, and we have given the would be committee to take the remaining days to do a thorough screening, where a credible and qualified candidate will be picked and I have also ask them to communicate with the leaders in their kingdom but I assure you by next week Friday, we will have a new Ovie elect” insisting that anyone who undermine his words will have to contend with him.
Meanwhile Chief Williams Atiti, and Chief Solomon Odemero Ojariefe, has assured the people of Idjerhe kingdom of credible members in the 13 man committee.
Atiti who spoke to news men on the procedure of picking the committee members said “we will make sure the members are credible, who will be unbiased in their selection and the people of the kingdom can be rest assured they will have a new king they can be proud of”
On his part, Odemero assured that the crisis in the Kingdom will soon be a thing of the past “we are peace loving people and law abiding, so we will make sure we keep to the time frame and I am very sure that by next week, we will be having a new king”
