Deputy Gov, Shaibu In Fresh Trouble as Edo Assembly Opts For Substituted Impeachment Notice
The Edo State House Assembly has taken a decisive step in the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu.
The house has opted to serve the Impeachment notice on Shuaibu via Substituted means after he refused to acknowledge the notice served on him last week.
Recall that last week the house initiated impeachment proceedings against Shaibu, citing accusations of perjury and the leaking of government secrets. This move marks the latest escalation in the apparent discord between Shaibu and his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Both men have been at loggerheads since last year when Shaibu expressed his intent to vie for the governorship position in the upcoming elections. Upon resumption of plenary on Monday, the House, led by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku, made the decision to serve the notice to Shaibu through substitution.
Agbebaku alleged that Shaibu had outrightly rejected the impeachment notice initially served by the House.
Consequently, the Speaker instructed the Clerk of the House, Yahaya Omogbai, to publish the notice in prominent national dailies, including the Nigerian Observer newspaper.
“It is evident that the deputy governor has declined to acknowledge the impeachment notice served on him by the House,” stated the Speaker.
“Therefore, the House will proceed to serve him by substitution, ensuring the publication of the notice in three national dailies, including The Observer.”
