Details emerged as INEC redeploys RECs, others

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has approved the redeployment of some of its Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and the posting of staff as part of the preparations for the 2023 general elections, TrackNews reports.
The redeployment was announced on Tuesday in Abuja by Festus Okoye Esq, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman for Information and Voter Education.
Mr. Okoye stated that the redeployment and posting, which affected 385 employees nationwide, was a routine exercise that would occur on a regular basis.
Among those affected by the redeployment are two RECs and eight Directorate level employees.
“In accordance with existing policy, the commission hereby redeploys two Residents Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and eight Directorate level staff,” he explained.
Mr Okoye stated that Dr Cyril Omorogbe, REC, Cross River State, had been redeployed to REC, Akwa Ibom State, and Dr Alalibo Johnson Sinikiem, REC, Edo State, had been transferred to Cross River State.
Engineer Paul Omokore, Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, Headquarters, Abuja, he said, had been redeployed as Director, ICT, Headquarters, Abuja; Engineer Chidi Nwafor, Director, ICT, to Administrative Secretary, Enugu State; Mr Chima Duruaku, Administrative Secretary, Anambra State, to Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, Headquarters, Abuja; and Mr jude Okwuanu, Administrative Secretary, Enugu State, to Administrative Secretary
Others include Usman Musa Wase, Acting Director, Human Resource Management, Headquarters, Abuja, who has been redeployed as the Acting Administrative Secretary, Nasarawa State; Mr Salisu Garba, Director in the Electoral Operations Department, who has been promoted to Director, Procurement, Headquarters, Abuja; Barr. Waziri Zanna, Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT, who has been promoted to Acting Director, Human Resource Management, Headquarters, Abuja; and Godwin Wad
He also stated that the redeployment/postings are effective immediately, while handing and taking over should be completed on or before Friday, August 26th, 2022.
