Dialogue crucial before imposition of tax – FIRS
By Adeleye Kunle
Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, has said that dialogue is crucial to avert taxpayer backlash.
The Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr Muhammad Nami made this disclosure at the 2022 Kaduna State Tax Dialogue on Saturday.
Noting that two-sided communication between the government and the taxpayers is vital, he said: “Dialoguing on tax prevents destructive conflicts as no one feels cheated or unfairly treated.
When governments do not dialogue with the people on the taxes they wish to impose, they create room for conflict and even rebuff.”
