Dr. Julius Takeme Visits Flood-Affected Communities

***Calls for Federal Support Following Flood Damage Assessment—-
Burutu ____The Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Julius Takeme today visited several communities impacted by flooding in the local government.
His tour covered Obotebe, Gbekebor, Ayakoromo, and Ofonibeinghan (Okrika), where he assessed the extensive damage caused by the floods.
During his visit, the Chairman expressed deep concern for the affected communities.
“As a responsible government, we will rise to the occasion and take swift action, just as we have in the past. I have come to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have faced this devastation. What I witnessed was truly heartbreaking. I urge the Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other stakeholders, to take immediate action to provide aid to the flood victims.” He said
The Chairman further emphasized that His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was committed to ensuring that all affected individuals received necessary support, and that relief materials would be distributed to impacted communities.
Additionally, he urged residents in flood prone areas to move to higher ground, as the Local Government Council is working closely with the State Government to establish Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps for those affected by the floods.
The Council Chairman who shares the pain of those affected called on the Federal Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to construct a proper foreshore wall and carry out sandfilling in the affected areas to prevent future effects of flooding.
