DSS Arrest Suspected Killers Of UNILORIN Student
The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested eight prime suspects over the murder and rape of Olajide Blessing, a 300-level agricultural science of the University of Ilorin.
Recall that the undergraduate was raped and murdered at her elder sister’s residence, in the Tanke area of Ilorin.
The development was condemned by the state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the commissioner of police in the state, Mohammed Lawal Bagega and Minister of Women Affairs, who all called for justice for Blessing.
Blessing was raped and murdered while her hands were tied and mouth gagged with a cloth and a note with the inscription “UNILORIN doesn’t forgive” was found placed on her chest.
The incident had sparked protests by many civil society organizations across the country.
Several DSS sources have now disclosed to TrackNews Online that the arrested suspects are helping the service with the investigation.
But when contacted for comment on their arrest, the spokesperson of DSS, Peter Afunanya, requested that a text message be sent.
He was yet to respond to the message after over seven hours before this report was filed.
But the Kwara State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mumini Jimoh (SAN), confirmed that some suspects had been arrested over the issue and will be arraigned before Justice I.A. Jusuf on Wednesday.
