Early voting in Niger as voters strive to locate polling units

Niger State witnessed an early distribution of sensitive electoral materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to various polling units just as eligible voters who were accredited immediately exercised their franchise.

Our Correspondent observed that the transfer or relocation of polling Units by INEC affected some voters who had to walk some metres to check for their names and be accredited to cast their votes

The voting process at the various polling units in the state is currently ongoing peacefully at various polling units.

As early as 7am, Track News visited some of the RACs located in Minna the state capital, electoral materials, INEC ad-hoc staff and security agents were already on ground.

In many of the polling units visited, the Labour Party LP had no Party Agents while those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were present.

At Chanchaga and Bosso local government areas accreditation and voting began early in polling units but most of the registered voters had difficulty in locating their polling units.

At the Bosso secondary school unit central 1 some of the voters could not locate their names on the list of voters pasted and they had to leave for other polling units
