Ebonyi residents ignore sit-at-home order

Residents of Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State ignored the suspended sit-at-home ordered by pro-separatist groups in the southeast.
Our reporter, who went round the city, observed that apart from government offices which observed the democracy day public holiday declared by the Federal Government, private businesses opened fully.
Filling stations, markets and shops opened for business.
Eateries, malls and other businesses were opened for business in all parts of the city, especially along Ogoja road, Water walks street and Afikpo road.
Intra city transport was available as commercial motorcyclists and tricycles were in operation.
The Margaret Umahi International Market was in full swing.
However, transport companies did not load to other States but loaded to towns within like Onueke, Ịkwọ and Afikpo
Security agents were seen patrolling the city in their vans.
Governor David Umahi held a stakeholders meeting attended by monarchs across the local governments and other stakeholders
Ebonyi residents long stopped observing the Monday sit-at-home following its cancellation by IPOB.
