Edo APC Seeks Dismissal of PDP Petition Challenging Okpebholo’s Victory
The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has filed a motion seeking the dismissal of a petition challenging the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo in the September 21, 2024, governorship election.
The petition, filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, contests the declaration of Okpebholo as the winner of the election. However, the APC has argued that the petition lacks merit and should be dismissed.
Okpebholo, who was sworn in as the governor of Edo State, has attributed his victory to divine intervention and the support of the people. The APC has rallied behind him, urging the tribunal to dismiss the petition and affirm Okpebholo’s victory.
The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has begun sitting to address the petition, and a ruling is expected soon. The outcome of the tribunal’s decision will determine the fate of Okpebholo’s governorship.
