Edo State Government Demolishes Security Post at Shaibu’s Residence

The security post at the private residence of the impeached Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, was demolished by a team from Government House, Benin, and the Edo Ministry of Roads and Bridges.
This action took place without prior notification, just a week after his removal from office.
The security post, located by the Benin Golf Course in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), was known for its busy activities during Shaibu’s tenure. However, it became deserted immediately after his removal last Monday.

The demolition team, accompanied by fully-armed policemen and operatives of the Edo Security Network, quickly pulled down the structures using a bulldozer at around 5 p.m. Witnesses, including a female resident of Shaibu’s compound, noted that there was no prior notice given before the demolition, describing the action as barbaric and ridiculous.
Some displeased neighbors and passersby, who identified the demolition team as members from Government House, Benin, expressed unhappiness with the exercise but preferred to remain anonymous.
Shaibu’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebomhiana Musa, declined to comment on the demolition. Shaibu, who was impeached, is hopeful of getting justice at the Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, over his illegal removal, ahead of the September 21, 2024, governorship election in the South-South state.
