Edo State: Lucky Igbinedion Loses Mother
Former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion, has lost his mother, Mrs. Maria Oredola Igbinedion.
www.connectnow.com.ng reports that this was made known by the former Edo governor on Thursday.
He disclosed that his mother died in the early hours of Thursday, at the age of 85,
According to Igbibedion, the burial arrangement of the Octogenarian who is survived by Children, grand Children and great grand Children, will be announced later.
Late Mrs. Oredola Igbinedion was married to the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
Mr. Lucky Igbinedion was the governor Edo State on the platform of Peoples Democratic party, PDP between 1999 and 2007.
Recall that Lucky Igbinedion was recently detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged criminal diversion of public funds to the tune of N1.6 billion.
A source that spoke with Premium Times on the condition of anonymity noted that Igbinedion was grilled by operatives of the commission at the EFCC’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
The further report disclosed that a loan which was obtained by the Edo State government was diverted to a company which Igbinedion has an interest in.
