EFCC raids Akwa-Ibom University, arrests 19 students
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Akwa Ibom State, have arrested 19 students of the Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, for suspected internet-related offences.
The suspects were arrested on Friday at their private hostels, Obong Abasi Lodge and Mfon Obong Lodge both located at Ikot Akpadem in Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Some of the suspects were alleged to be involved in romance scams, fraudulent cryptocurrency transactions and impersonation.
A number of laptops and mobile phones were recovered from them.
The Commission added that it will be charging the students to court as soon as investigations are concluded
