Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has allegedly confiscated the Range Rover SUV of Big Brother Naija reality show star, Rebecca Nengi Hampson over alleged links with a Ponzi scheme operator, Michael Diongoli.
The reality show star announced that she had bought a N40 million worth of Range Rover last year, just a few months after she bought a home in Lagos.
It was alleged that the Range Rover was a surprise gift from Diongoli, her alleged billionaire lover.
The reality show star had taken to social media then to praise herself for working hard to afford such an expensive auto mobile.
The Street Journal had earlier reported that Diongoli was invited for questioning by the EFCC in July for defrauding an Army Colonel and a co-operative society, among others of the sum of N1.2 billion.
He faced eight counts of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences and fraud.
He was eventually arraigned alongside his two firms, UK-Don Group and UK-Dion Investment Limited before Justice Lewis-Allagoa last month for defrauding his victims under the false pretence of multiple return on investment within six months to one year.
Following his arrest, many of his properties were confiscated including the numerous ones he gifted his string of lovers.
Nengi’s Range Rover was alleged to be one of the properties confiscated by the EFCC.
Diongoli was said to have committed the offences which contravened sections 8 (a), 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related to Offences Act 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act, between December 2021 and April 2022.
