Ekiti 2022: NSCDC deploys 9,747 personnel for election
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 9,747 officers for Saturday’s election.
Commandant-General Abubakar Audi urged the personnel to be professional in their conduct by allowing the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Corps to guide their performances. He stressed that the service must remain apolitical and neutral.
Audi maintained that necessary machinery has been put in place to provide effective security for INEC officials, sensitive and non-sensitive materials, before, during and after the election.
A statement by the spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, said the 2,445 polling units, collation centres, flashpoints and other areas will be fully covered during the exercise.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has also deployed 1,500 personnel to help enforce traffic rules and regulations during the election.
Also deployed are operational vehicles, including tow trucks and ambulances, to strengthen the enforcement of movement restrictions.
A statement yesterday by the Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Bisi Kazeem, described the measures as part of the corps’ support toward ensuring smooth election.
