Ekiti task force monitors petrol marketers and reveals fuel allocation
Gov. Biodun Oyebanji’s Task Force Committee on Fuel Scarcity has placed some fuel stations in Ado-Ekiti, Omuo, and other towns in the state under surveillance for suspected diversion of petroleum products meant for their outlets.
Mr Adesokan Israel, the task force’s chairman, stated this in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Ado Ekiti.
Adesokan, also known as Jaru, who led the field monitoring team, stated that products distributed by NNPC to marketers should arrive at petrol stations within 24 hours.
“The issue of diversion has become concerning, and the government of the day, led by Gov. Biodun Oyebanji, will nip it in the bud in the interest of the Ekiti people, particularly the masses,” he said.
The chairman urged petrol dealers and stations not to stockpile the product or raise its price, as doing so would have serious consequences. He insisted that the task force would monitor the sales process, noting that petrol would be sold to the good people of Ekiti at the correct price.
The taskforce then issued the following list of fueling stations in Ekiti, along with the amount of gasoline available to them today: Adeleke Oil and Gas, Ado Ekiti, Reg. No. AGB653ZD, 33,000 litres; Anisco Oil and Gas, Ilawe-Ekiti, Reg. No. APP184XT, 45,000 litres; NNPC Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, Reg. No. ADK129XB, 40,000 litres; M.A Yusuf Oil and Gas, Ilumoba Ekiti,
He urged the filling stations to follow the law because their activities would be effectively monitored.
