Enyimba boss, Finidi relieved to make Super Six playoff
Enyimba head coach, Finidi George was a happy figure after his team booked a spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League Super Six playoffs.
The People’s Elephant held Shooting Stars to a 1-1 draw in Ibadan on Sunday.
The solitary point was enough for the eight-time champions to make the playoffs.
A defeat would have dropped the Abia giants to fourth with Akwa United making the Super Six after their 1-0 victory against Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium.
“The players were kind of under pressure after hearing the result from the match between Akwa United and Gombe,” Finidi told Track news after the game in Ibadan.
“The pressure is a welcome one for the young lads as it will sharpen them up for the task ahead.”
Bendel Insurance, Remo Stars and Enyimba all qualified for the NPFL Super Six playoff from Group A.
