EPL: 3 matches we could see shock results in Game Week 14
By Adeleye Kunle
The English Premier League returns this weekend following European engagement for some of the top-flight clubs in the midweek.
The Premier League will be going on break in the coming weeks for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in November.
Matches spread across England to be played between Saturday and Sunday this weekend include:
Leicester City vs Manchester City
Newcastle United vs Aston Villa
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton vs Chelsea
Crystal Palace vs Southampton
Brentford vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Fulham vs Everton
Liverpool vs Leeds United
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest
Manchester United vs West Ham United.
For the Week 13 of the Premier League matches, some of the games that end in shock results include Brighton’s home game against Chelsea, Leicester City vs Man City, and Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest.
These three matches could produce shock results this weekend.
Brighton vs Chelsea: Brighton is certainly one of the most unpredictable teams in the English top flight. But the past few results have not been in their favour. After their 3-3 draw with Liverpool, they fell back to defeat – 1-0 defeat to Tottenham and 2-0 loss to Brentford – at the American Express Community Stadium before playing out a 0-0 to Nottingham and returning to a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City. The Blues are still unbeaten under Graham Potter but could find it difficult if the Seagulls produce the form that saw them sit within the top four for weeks.
Leicester City vs Manchester City: The general belief is that Leicester City is back to form, winning two of their last Premier League games having started the season on a run of defeats. Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes defeated Wolves 4-0 last season but before then, handed Leeds United a shock 3-0 defeat to announce their return to winning ways. Manchester City travels to the King Power Stadium on the back of their 1-0 to Liverpool and would seek to immediately bounce back. But Rodgers’ boys could produce a shock and hand the Citizens their second defeat of the season.
Citizens recorded their very first defeat of the season to rejuvenating Liverpool last weekend. They are still second in the league table but four points adrift of Arsenal. Ordinarily, one would easily give Pep Guardiola’s side. But despite losing their manager to Chelsea, Brighton has remained a team to beat in the Premier League and could post a strong resistance to City. Brighton managed a 0-0 draw with struggling Nottingham Forest in their last outing
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest: This game is between the table toppers and bottom-table clubs and that makes it a difficult one for the Gunners. A couple of weeks ago, this game would have appeared in this category but there has been a turn of events. Nothingness has been unbeaten in their last two games including a shock 1-0 victory over Liverpool. The Gunners, who were defeated 2-0 by PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League in midweek could make this game very difficult if the Forests produce the spirit that saw them humble Liverpool last weekend
