EPL: Two reasons I’ll not blame Mudryk for snubbing Arsenal to join Chelsea – Ian Wright
Arsenal hero, Ian Wright, has said he would not blame Mykhailo Mudryk for snubbing the Gunners to join Chelsea this January transfer window because the Ukrainian had a lot more going on around him personally and in his life.
Chelsea recently beat Arsenal to signing Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mudryk spent much of January openly flirting with the idea of a move to Arsenal but their reluctance to meet Shakhtar Donetsk’s asking price presented their London rivals Chelsea with an opportunity to pounce.
And Wright believes the 22-year-old winger should not be criticised for deciding to accept a more lucrative offer.
He told the Arsecast podcast: “With Mudryk, I was very excited about that. With the money, it started to get into the realm where it could knock us off our axes in terms of what we are trying to do.
“He looks like the kind of guy that would fit into our group. I was a bit disappointed but not disappointed that Arsenal went, ‘that is fine’.
“He has gone there for the money, I am not going to blame him because he is someone who has had a lot more going on around him personally and in his life
