EPL: Why 10-man Leeds United defeated Man City 2-1 at Etihad – Guardiola
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has explained that 10-man Leeds United defeated his team 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon because his players lacked aggression during the encounter.
Guardiola said that Man City failed to create chances against Leeds, adding that the visitors’ performances were fantastic.
Stuart Dallas opened scoring for Leeds in the first half, before adding another in stoppage time to rule out Ferran Torres’ equaliser.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola said at his post-match press conference: “11v11 was tight and we conceded a goal that we could have avoided. We were not aggressive enough in these areas.
“We were in the final positions but we couldn’t score the goal and after the sending off, we did not create enough maybe a little more but we conceded another one.
“At the end it can happen, a team like this who are fantastic and congratulations. It was not very clear our chances, we couldn’t create much.
“When I play a game, I think we can win. The guys tried but we couldn’t do it.”
