Escalating Threats: Nigerian Navy’s Lt. Cynthia Akor Abducted Amid Rising Military Kidnappings

Gunmen have kidnapped a Nigerian Navy officer, Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, along with two other individuals in Abuja. The abduction took place on Thursday night in the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory. Lt. Akor, who is attached to the Defence Headquarters, was reportedly taken while traveling in the area.
Sources indicate that the gunmen ambushed the victims and forcefully took them away. It remains unclear whether the kidnappers have made any ransom demands. The incident has raised concerns over the increasing rate of abductions in the capital and across Nigeria.
Security operatives have launched a search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims. Authorities have yet to provide an official statement regarding the abduction, but the Nigerian military and police are reportedly working together to track down the assailants.
The kidnapping of a military officer highlights the growing security challenges in Nigeria, where criminal gangs frequently carry out abductions for ransom. Despite government efforts to curb the menace, kidnapping remains a significant threat in many parts of the country.
Residents in the Abaji area have expressed fear over the incident, calling for increased security measures. The latest abduction adds to a series of similar cases in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria, where both civilians and security personnel have fallen victim to kidnappers.
Efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of Lt. Akor and the other two victims. Security agencies have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
