The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei, has again stated the commitment of the Douye Diri led Prosperity Government in the development of Bayelsa State for the socioeconomic benefit of the people.
ESV Teibowei made the statement as he played host to the Bayelsa Independent Publishers Association (BIPA) at his office in Yenagoa on Thursday, August 9 2024.
The Commissioner emphasized that in spite of the towering inflation which has become quite scary, the people-centred Governor has remained undaunted in developing signature projects in the State.
He noted that though the three senatorial roads and some others are federal roads, the state had to execute them knowing that these roads would expand the socioeconomic fortunes of the State and its people.
ESV Teibowei explained to BIPA that, for the senatorial roads, Sagbama-Ekeremor had already been achieved; for Nembe-Brass Road, he said we could drive to the first Bridge which has been completed and that by the end of August, sandfilling of the 21 kilometres would be completed; he also said that construction of beams has commenced on the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge while the road is being constructed to Otuan and Oporoma simultaneously and that hopefully, by December it would reach Otuan.
Other Projects the Honourable Commissioner mentioned are the completed AIT-Igbogene Outer Ring Road, the completed Glory Drive Phase 2, the ongoing Glory Drive Phase 3, the ongoing Akaba-Okodi Road; the Polaku-Sabagreia Road/Bridge which was taken over from NDDC and the dualisation of Opolo-AIT Road which is to hit the Melford Okilo Road among other key projects.
ESV Teibowei stressed further that the Governor is carrying out all these projects without making noise and without political sentiment, thereby executing such people-oriented projects in all local government areas of the state.
Speaking earlier, the Pioneer Chairman of BIPA, Mr Braeyi Ekiye, expressed pleasure with the infrastructural drive of the Diri-led Government, especially the construction of the three senatorial roads.
Mr Ekiye also used the medium to congratulate the Honourable Commissioner on his reappointment noting that it was a manifestation of his sterling qualities and selfless service to the Government and people of Bayelsa State.
Highpoint was when the Commissioner took BIPA to the New Yenagoa City to see for themselves the massive development going on there; particularly, the construction of major roads within the New Yenagoa City, the New Commissioners’ Quarters and the New Legislators’ Quarters which sandfilling alone is about two metres in height and they were visibly excited about Senator Diri’s strides in infrastructure development noting that a lot was really happening in the State.
