Ex-Convict, Olanrewaju Bada Akorede Arrested Again For Attempting To Export Rohypnol To S/Africa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Olanrewaju Bada Akorede, an ex-convict, for attempting to export a consignment of Rohypnol to South Africa through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to NDLEA officials, the illegal drugs were concealed within a cargo shipment containing gari, shoes, men’s singlets, and other household items. The shipment was intercepted at the airport’s export shed, where the drugs were found concealed among the goods.
This marks Akorede’s second arrest for a similar crime this year. He was initially apprehended on December 12, 2023, attempting to export 4.90kg of tramadol and 2.10kg of Rohypnol to South Africa. In February 2024, he was convicted for the crime and sentenced to two years in prison, with an option to pay a fine of N900,000. Akorede paid the fine and was released, only to return to his criminal activities shortly after.
The NDLEA has vowed to continue its efforts in curbing the trafficking of illicit substances and ensuring that individuals involved in such activities are brought to justice.
