Ex-Gov Ortom appeals for peace in PDP, urges factions to sheathe swords
Former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has called on all factions within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal.
In a statement released on Monday by his media aide, Terver Akase, Ortom emphasized that differing opinions are a natural part of politics, but urged party members to prioritize the greater good and focus on shared objectives.
Ortom, who highlighted his long-standing friendship and mutual respect with his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, encouraged stakeholders to find amicable solutions to political disagreements.
The statement reads, “Chief Ortom says in politics, differing opinions and positions are inevitable, but the differences often serve to deepen the democratic process and contribute to enriching discourses within political parties.
“He points out that he and Senator Suswam share a long-standing friendship and mutual respect as leaders within the PDP and will always find amicable solutions to whatever political disagreements may arise, by prioritising the greater good of the party and its members.”
The former governor’s appeal comes as the PDP faces internal conflicts, with Ortom’s statement aiming to promote unity and cohesion within the party.
By urging factions to put aside their differences, Ortom hopes to refocus attention on the PDP’s shared aspirations and objectives, ensuring the party remains strong and united.
