Ex-Niger Delta Militant Hails Tinubu’s Reforms, Seeks Intensified Security Of Oil Installations

A philanthropist and former Niger Delta militant, Chief Preye Alamene, has saluted President Bola Tinubu administration’s ongoing reforms in various sectors, describing them as “good work and efforts to take our great country Nigeria to a greater height.”
Alamene also called for increased surveillance and security of the nation’s oil installations and other infrastructure in the Niger Delta region, saying if given the clearance and permission, he was ready to secure government’s critical facilities in Bayelsa State given his knowledge of the terrain.
In a statement personally signed by Chief Alamene at the weekend, the leader of the Phase II Amnesty Programme, who is also called General Preye Alamene, noted that the Federal Government was losing humongous revenues in the region of billions of US Dollars to pipeline vandalism, bunkering, oil theft and other related crimes on daily basis in his native Bayelsa State alone.
“I humbly request for clearance/permission and support to fully secure federal government oil pipelines and other facilities in Bayelsa State. I am an indigene of Southern Ijaw, one of the biggest LGAs in Niger Delta region, born and breed in Bayelsa State.
“Federal government is losing a lot of billions of dollars in vandalism, bunkering, oil theft and other related crimes every day within just Bayelsa State. I have also been fighting against pipeline vandalism and oil theft for many years without any support from anywhere and most of the big players that Federal Government assigned surveillance contract to are coming to seek advice from me from time to time because of my versed experience in Bayelsa State and Niger Delta region at large.
“I am a strong believer and follower of our amiable President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and very desirous to work with the federal government of Nigeria to drastically reduce this ugly menace if given the opportunity. I also want to appeal to the good people of Nigeria to exercise patience with the Nigerian government as better days are closer. Let all Nigerians abide in peace, unity and tolerance for our own good,” Alamene stated.
