Ex-Oyo Gov, Ladoja Warns Buhari That Terrorists May Attack Aso Rock One Day – See Details

By Adeleye Kunle
Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, has warned that terrorists may attack Aso Rock, President Muhammadu Buhari’s official residence, TrackNews reports.
Ladoja, who served as governor of Oyo from 2003 to 2007, stated that terrorists who are attacking various strategic facilities and formations in the country may one day attack the seat of power if immediate action is not taken to address the country’s growing spate of insecurity.
Ladoja told journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, on Saturday that Aso Rock can be attacked if they go so far as to attack the President’s advance convoy.
TrackNews recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team was recently attacked by suspected terrorists in Katsina State.
But, speaking to journalists who flocked to Ladoja’s Bodija, Ibadan, residence for the Eid-el-Kabir festival on Saturday, Ladoja insisted that terrorists might one day attack Aso Rock if they could free high-profile inmates held at Kuje prisons without any obstacles.
Ladoja, who stated that the current security situation in the country is cause for serious concern, added that the President and other relevant security stakeholders should be more active in order to halt the country’s deteriorating security situation.
While speaking further, the former governor stated that prayers alone cannot prevent insecurity and other forms of attacks in the country.
He stated that the current crop of political leaders must be visible in order to address the country’s various problems.
“For the terrorists to even go to the extent of attacking the president’s convoy is damning and concerning,” Ladoja said.
“That means they have the ability to attack Mr. President’s official residence, Aso Rock. If terrorists are able to free high-profile detainees at Kuje Prisons, it means that one day we will only hear that they have entered Aso Rock. This is cause for grave concern.
“We must continue to pray, but prayers alone will not prevent insecurity and other forms of attack; we must be visible to and sensitize our people.”
“The situation is deteriorating, and the governor of Zamfara State recently advised his people to obtain arms and ammunition to defend themselves.”
“So, if anyone in Zamfara State carries arms, can he be arrested by security agents?” Mr. President and other relevant security stakeholders must be more active in order to halt the country’s deteriorating security situation.”
