TRACKING____Members of Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday stormed the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja to protest against what they described as imposition of candidates by the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.

They accused the governor of imposing candidates on the party in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The chapter alleged that the governor arbitrarily hand-picked and imposed some of his cronies and stooges across the state for the local government election against the democratic tenets of the party.

The group, led by the President of Yala Political Development Forum in Yala Local Government, Ogar Joseph Odey, said there were no congresses to select the PDP flag bearers in the election, “but Governor Ben Ayade, without recourse to the people, sat down and selected his cronies undemocratically, which was confirmed and reaffirmed by his Returning Officers.”

In a petition submitted to the party’s national leadership, the protesters called for a level playing ground for all the aspirants as witnessed in PDP primaries in the past.
