TRACKING_______Newly appointed emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero on Tuesday resumed office after his enthronement by Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje’s government on Monday deposed the former emir Muhammadu Sanusi on Monday and announced Bayero as the successor of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“The removal of Sanusi was reached in order to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over a thousand years ago,” secretary to Kano government Usman Alhaji said.

“It is on record and in so many instances Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, has been found breaching part 3 section 13 (a-e) of the Kano state emirate law 2019 and which if left unchecked will destroy the good and established image of Kano emirate.”

Announcing Bayero, son of late Kano emir as Sanusi’s successor, Alhaji said that the new appointment was in consonant with section 11 subsection 1 of deposition laws of 1999 as amended which empowers Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to do so.

Aminu, a mass communication graduate of Bayero University, Kano, was first appointed as district head of Nasarawa in 1990 by his late father. He was named the emir of Bichi in 2019 after Kano State governor Umaru Ganduje divided the Kano Emirate into four.

On his resumption to office, Bayero visited his father’s grave at Gidan, Nassarawa Palace in a convoy of the Kano Emirates Council.

Emir Bayero is also expected to pay homage at his mother’s residence at Gandu area of Kano before returning to the palace.
