TRACKING>>The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson on Wednesday described the civil service as the main vehicle for the implementation of government programmes and polices.

He said without a functional civil service, government at every level will find it difficult to operate as they drive the process for the actualization of the day to day plan of government.

Iworiso-Markson was speaking in Yenagoa at the ongoing Orientation and Induction course for the one thousand newly employed graduates of the state civil service.

He explained that because of the important role of the civil service in governance, the Restoration Government has done so much to reposition it for efficiency and greater productivity.

According to him, the new employees are beneficiaries of the recent reforms of the service and enjoined them to uphold the ethical standards and strict values that the civil service is known for.

The Information Commissioner said they were fortunate to have been selected amongst other applicants and urged them to distinguish themselves in the discharge of their duties and also see the civil service as their own company.

While admonishing them to continue to show appreciation to Governor Henry Seriake Dickson for creating the opportunity, he stressed that with diligence and hardwork which he noted are the hallmarks of excellence, they will rise to the pinnacle of their career.

“You are the next generation of civil servants that will make the difference. Don’t take the civil service for granted. It is all up to you to make a difference in your life. Be disciplined and excellent; make up your mind to be outstanding. Life is about the decision you make, make the right decisions.

“I congratulate you for successfully scaling all hurdles to be gainfully employed. As a government we have done the best that we can to make the civil service more efficient and result oriented. Most of you are aware of the reforms we embarked on, it was all in the interest of the state and today you all are beneficiaries.
