Federal Varsity Otuoke trumps up support for research development, innovations
A two-day capacity building workshop was organised in Federal University Otuoke on the 28th -29th May 2021, to strategize on ways of opening up its frontiers for science based research.
The workshop which was organised by the Faculty of Sciences in conjunction with Centre for Petroleum Pollution Control and Corrosion Studies (CEFPACS), NIGERIA had the theme “ENHANCING RESEARCH AND INNOVATION FOR REGIONAL AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT”
Vice chancellor of FUO Prof. Teddy Charles Adias while declaring the workshop open , stated that the university is focused on developing its research base, while calling on collaborators in government and the private sector to partner with the institution.
Dean of Sciences of the University Prof. Iheoma Adekunle in her remark spoke on the essence of the capacity building workshop and it’s importance to the university.
She further said more workshops will be organised to harness knowledge for research.
In his keynote speech.
“The Role of Research Development and Innovation in National Development,” The keynote speaker Prof. Ibrahim Katamkpe from Central State University, Wilberforce Ohio, USA pointed out the need to harness recent innovative technology in research among Institutions.
Other topics at the workshop were
-The Role of In-country Technology in National Development.
-Expanding Funding Opportunities in the Oil and Gas Industry: Prospects in Research Innovation and Technology Development.
-Enhancing Researchers and Institutional Global Visibility and
-Agro based Research and National Development.
The two day workshop also had Media interviews, the signing MOU with collaborators, site inspection of the Research and Development project site within FUO and Interactive forums.
The Workshop drew academicians, scholars and collaborators from around the country and within.
