Female Banker Killed by Kidnappers After Ransom Payment in Anambra

A female banker, identified only as Ifeoma, has been murdered by suspected kidnappers in Anambra State despite her family paying a ransom for her release.
Track News Online reports that Ifeoma was abducted in Onitsha and held for several days before the kidnappers contacted her family, demanding ransom.
A source close to the family, who requested anonymity, confirmed the tragic event, revealing that the kidnappers received an undisclosed amount of money. Unfortunately, Ifeoma was not freed, and her body was later discovered along the road.
The source stated, “Her body was found near Ideani Junction, along the Nnobi-Alor Road in Idemili South Local Government Area, despite the ransom being paid.
She was kidnapped in Onitsha, and after several days, the kidnappers reached out to the family for ransom, but she was found dead shortly after.
There are suspicions that she may have recognised the kidnappers, leading them to eliminate her to avoid being exposed. The family is devastated by the loss.”
Anambra State Police Command spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the discovery of the body, adding that investigations have begun.
The command received information about a female corpse found along the Nnobi-Alor Road, allegedly abandoned by suspected kidnappers.
The body has been evacuated, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of her death,” Ikenga stated.
