TRACKING___The Federal Government yesterday introduced a new health protocol for the aviation sector, exempting flight crew from the mandatory 14-day quarantine for arriving international flights.

Henceforth, local flight crew on international operations would only be tested for COVID-19 every 14 days with the cost borne by their operators.

The information was contained in the fresh rule approved by the Federal Ministry of Health and issued yesterday by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to operators, airports and other service providers.

NCAA’s Director General, Captain Musa Nuhu, recalled that Nigeria-based flight crew who operated international flights before now were quarantined for 14 days upon return to the country.

He, nonetheless, urged crew operating regional and international flights to always sensitise their teams on infection, prevention and control (IPC) measures.
