FG Will Appeal N20bn Damages Against DSS – AGF Malami Abubakar Discloses

Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami has said that the federal government will be appealing the judgment of an Oyo State High Court which awarded N20 billion in damages to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.
Igboho was awarded the money after his lawyer, Mr Yomi Alliyu (SAN) had filed a N500 billion fundamental human rights enforcement suit against the AGF, DSS and Director of the DSS in Oyo State over the incident.
Ruling on the case, Justice Ladiran Akintola said the DSS exhibited an unprofessional conduct during the invasion and also violated Igboho’s human rights.
Reacting to the ruling, Malami said efforts are already being made to commence the process of appealing the judgment.
