Foundation seeks women’s participation in politics
TRACKING>>Convener of Abuja Discuss and Executive Director of Dinidari Foundation, Ndi Kato, yesterday said that an inclusive legislation and policy change would ensure that politicians create more avenues where women in politics can be showcased.
Kato, who spoke at the screening of the Fourth Republic, a movie, which documents the travails of women in politics at the weekend in Abuja, said very few women were ultimately given the opportunity to hold political offices compared to their male counterparts.
She said women, who showed interest in taking up political offices were often put down, sexually harassed and called names as a way of dissuading them and this had made a lot of them to stay away from actively participating in politics.
